1986 Ford Mustang SVO with the factory Competetition Prep option. I purchased this car and picked it up in Georgia approximately 3 years ago with plans to do a restoration on it. It has been in storage since that time with only minor cleaning and changes done after purchase. 1 of only 83 known to be originally built in 1986 with the Competition Prep factory option. 1 of approximately 380 built in this color out of 3379 built in 1986. The car shows only 56,373 miles on the odometer and a AutoCheck history report backs up these numbers. The car does not appear to have ever been in an accident and the body is extremely clean with only very minimal surface rust showing on the inside driver door seam and underneath of the hatch near the center. No rust on any of the exterior body panels. The paint is what I feel is still very nice and shines pretty well. There are several small dings on the side of the vehicle and also the previous owner got several small dents in the fenders and hood when working underhood on the vehicle. They will be seen in the pictures. Front lights are all present but will need polishing to remove the typical yellowing. The Marchal fog lights are there but without the covers. Wheel spats are in very good condition and all the thin strip side mouldings are present and in good shape. All the harder to find specific SVO parts are present on the vehicle with the exception of the original wheels which are relatively easy to find for restoration of the stock look. Currently has mid 1990's Mustang GT wheels. The interior is in pretty good condition overall. The seats have no major spots, rips or tears but have a couple small cigarette burn holes. The fuzzy dash panels are typical for their age and should be reflocked. The leather horn pad and steering wheel is in good condition showing some typical wear. The Hurst shift boot and knob also in good condition with some minor cracking on the top of the knob. Door panels very nice and straight but there is some minor pulling away of the fabric at hockey stick style trim moulding on the passenger side. The dash pad is faded but straight and has one crack/split about one inch long. Carpet and console in good condition with normal wear. The previous owner had engine trouble with the car and installed a new Turbo shortblock purchased from Advance Auto Parts and a aftermarket turbo. The car is currently running but has a smoking problem when running, not just puffing at startup due to valve seals. Since it is a continuous smoking problem when running I feel it is in the turbo setup since I have made sure it had fresh plugs, pvc, etc. as well as verifying good compression. Also please note that a previous owner has wired the cooling fan in direct to a toggle switch under the dash. Because the car has been sitting for several years it will obviously need checking and/or updating of the brakes, suspension and other mechanical components as well as solving the smoking problem before being roadworthy. I still have the State of Georgia title for the vehicle from when I purchased it which will be given to the winning bidder along with a bill of sale. And as stated by the current running condition of the vehicle, the car will need to be picked up at my location in Lake Orion, Michigan which is approximately one hour north of Downtown Detroit. I have tried to describe the vehicle as best as possible, and feel as a whole this is a very nice SVO Mustang that needs some time, care and some money invested to have a desirable rare car. Unfortunately I have not been able to come up with the financial resources to continue with this project so am hoping another SVO enthusiast will return it to it's glory.
